A surgery might be a better option if you want a more predictable result. Still many people are not sure whether they really want to go through the pain and/or fear of lengthy surgery and recovery, in addition to the spending of over AED10,000. If there is a way to get at least a similar outcome, you may want to consider it. What about PRP or Laser hair loss treatments? Can these new technologies be serious alternatives to surgery?
“Hair loss treatment” is a very confusing term without clear definition. Among plethora of non-surgical hair loss treatment options, our study found that only two of them are actually worth mentioning in view of their medical efficacy: PRP and Laser.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a substance you get when you process a small amount of your own blood using a centrifuge that spins at high speed to split up a liquid mixture. The acquired PRP is rich with growth factors that can positively affect hair growth. The doctor injects the PRP into areas on the scalp where the growth stimulation is needed. PRP is known to work like a fertilizer for the hair, helping it to get stronger and thicker. It is said to work better in the earlier phase of hair loss.
In Dubai, PRP treatment for hair is priced between AED500 to AED2,000 per session. With seasonal promotions, you can easily find Jumeirah clinics offering treatments with prices marked below AED1,000. Clinics may also combine PRP with other nutritive components such as Mesotherapy or MultiVitamin, in this case you might get charged 50 to 100% more than standalone PRP treatments.

Laser (light) hair therapy applies low-level lasers or light-emitting diodes (LEDs) to the scalp to stimulate and enhance cell function. The efficacy of the laser hair therapy for hair regeneration is widely debated and users comments also differ dramatically.
Advantages of Laser or light therapy include that it is less invasive than PRP, and at- home therapy is available by purchasing the devices which range from about AED1,000 to AED2,000.
If you get the treatment at the clinic in Dubai, you can be charged about AED500 to AED1,000 per session. You will also be told that laser hair treatment requires multiple sessions to achieve the desired outcome. However, machines used at the clinics are known to project more powerful beams and, therefore, are more effective than home devices.

Hair transplant is a procedure where a surgeon adds hair taken from a body part where hair is thicker to an area that needs it. In Dubai, Hair Transplant is not only used to enrich the scalp area, but also to make one’s beard thicker.
Hair Transplant surgery utilises either of the two methods: follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS) or follicular unit extraction (FUE). FUSS includes separating a strip of the skin from, usually, the back of your head, then dividing the strip into 500 to 2,000 small pieces containing a single or a few hairs. Next, your surgeon carefully places each piece of the strip into the holes he created in the area where the hair is needed. FUSS is sometimes called Follicular unit transplantation (FUT) as well.
With FUE, the surgeon separates hair follicles individually, not as a skin strip, to place them into the holes mentioned above. FUE does not make a scar on the scalp as FUSS does but it requires longer surgery time and is more expensive. Even with the same surgeon at the same clinic, the price can be different according to the treatment size and methods used.
Treatment size determines the number of grafts to be transplanted. Graft is a strip of the skin where a unit of hair follicles grows together. Typically a graft contains 1 to 3 hair follicles and it is the unit that gets surgically transplanted. Usually FUE is more expensive than FUT/FUSS as it requires more time to perform the procedure per graft.
On average, you can expect to pay AED12 per graft for FUT/FUSS and AED15 per graft for FUE. Assuming a moderate case of 1,000 graft transplants, the price will be about AED12,000 (FUT) to AED15,000 (FUE).
