Dr. Merry del Val obtained his (MBBS) from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain in 2002. He later became Specialist in Asepeyo Hospital, in Madrid, a trauma center specialized in Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation for occupational injuries, where he worked for 5 years. He also completed a residency program in hip joint surgery in 2007. ( Rambam Healthcare Campus, Faculty of Medicine).
Dr. Borja started his professional career as an orthopedic surgeon in Puerta de Hierro University Hospital, Madrid, a 613 bed facility which is considered one of the most prestigious hospitals in Spain and an accredited teaching center of the ESSKA (European Society of Sports, Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy). He has been working as a consultant in the orthopedic department for 8 years, where he also became an active member of the bone tumor committee.
Dr. Merry del Val received a prestigious award from “The Spanish Joint Arthroscopy Association and the Spanish Knee society” for a study he developed on meniscal sutures. He is also a faculty and instructor for the European Arthroscopy Fellowship and a teaching partner of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonoma University of Madrid, one of the biggest and most important and well recognized public universities in Spain.
Dr. Borja completed is Doctorate degree courses in Musculoskeletal System at the Autonoma University of Madrid in 2004. In 2015 he became a Fellow member of the European Board of Orthopedics and Traumatology in Rotterdam, where he is serving as a fellowship examiner.
Dr. Merry del Val gathers more than 14 years experience in the field of sports medicine and joint replacement surgeries, having performed more than 2800 arthroscopic procedures and over 2200 knee and hip replacements.
His area of expertise is Minimally Invasive Hip replacement surgery (MIS I), with more than 1800 hip replacements performed during his career.
Dr. Borja is a fluent speaker both in English and Spanish, holding both U.S. and Spanish citizenship. He also speaks basic Arabic for healthcare professionals.

In October, I had my second hip replacement procedure by Dr. Borja Merry del Val. The care I received before the surgery and after the operation was excellent. All the attention that I received from the doctor and NMC Royal staff was beyond any expectation. Thank you.

Dr. Borja Merry del Val , Best orthopedic surgeon. I wouldn't go to anyone else for treatment he is trustworthy, knowledgeable and shows empathy towards his patients conditions. Replaced my anterior cruciate ligament and back to the gym in 1 month. Genius.
