I am educated and trained in the United States and hold a dual Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology and Applied Behavior Analysis. In the US, I started my career working in a private school with adolescents struggling with language-based learning disabilities, language disorders, and social communication difficulties. I utilized both ‘push-in’ and ‘pull-out’ models in one-to-one and group treatment sessions. I also worked closely with classroom teachers and implemented whole class teaching targeting vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills.
Upon returning to the GCC, I delved into the area of diagnosis, assessment and intervention of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental disabilities, and general behavioral concerns in both English and Arabic language over a period of five years. During that time, I also established and managed government-initiated projects and research studies that enhanced the lives of families, children, and students with developmental disabilities and learning disabilities in the region.
I have extensive experience in various areas including ADHD, articulation, auditory processing, augmentative and alternative communication, developmental delays (i.e. expressive and receptive language delays), fluency, learning disabilities, social communication, and management of problem behaviors following a behavioral plan.
As a speech-language pathologist, my passion lays in enhancing children and adolescents’ functional communication and expressive and receptive language skills; including literacy and executive functioning abilities. I also have interest in fluency disorders and oral-motor difficulties. I am committed to making the delivery of speech-language therapy a delightful experience for children and their parents utilizing evidence-based strategies and practices as well as home programs.
I am dedicated to highlighting the importance of increasing communication and collaboration between family, nurseries/schools, and support services in order to maximize the intervention services. I frequently present in schools, nurseries, and in national and international conferences with a focus on prevention and awareness, early intervention, and parent training on topics of communication and behavioral difficulties.
