Coming to Dubai, in 2009, and practicing a career I love in such a fascinating global community has defied my expectations and continues to enrichen my life. I am ever grateful to be trusted with my patients’ personal lives and the ongoing relationships I enjoy with them.
As a wife and mother of two young boys in dynamic Dubai, I know first-hand what it’s like to integrate in multiple languages and cultural backgrounds. I understand more than ever the importance (and challenges) of striving for a better, happier, and more balanced life. Daily, I strive to be a part of bringing that happiness and balance to all children and families I serve.
Education and Background
I’m a child and family psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with multidisciplinary teams in academic, research, and inpatient/outpatient clinic settings. My early work in psychology began with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (USA). I went on to earn my Masters and PhD degrees from the University of Miami, in Florida, USA, in 2000 and 2004, respectively. After completing additional post-doctoral fellowships at the Mailman Center for Child Development in University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine and the University of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children in Canada.
Work History
Since moving to Dubai in 2009, I’m proud to say I’ve established myself as a respected professional in my work with children, adolescents, and the families of those with developmental delays, learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioral difficulties. I have both created and headed Psychology Departments at two prominent medical clinics in Dubai Healthcare City before joining American Wellness Center.
I have earned great trust from my patients through my dedication to collaborating with professional teams, serving as a community educator, and working for my patients’ best interests.
My expertise and passions cover a wide range of topics, such as ADHD, learning disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, autism spectrum, social-emotional growth, family conflict, adjustment disorders, and medical adherence. Services I offer include consultations, therapy (for individuals, group, and family), diagnostic and psycho-educational assessments, friendship and leadership programs for youth, school and parent workshops, university lectures, conference presentations, and medical staff training.
I’m fluent in English and Spanish, and I am licensed in the UAE and Canada.
