Dr. Kazim graduated from medical school in 1974 and underwent extensive urological training in London. Following the FRCS in 1978, he returned to the UAE and joined the Ministry of Health, Abu Dhabi and later moved to the Department of Health, Dubai, in 1982. Dr. Kazim was instrumental in setting up the urology units in the Central Hospital, Abu Dhabi, and the Dubai Hospital. He was appointed as Consultant Urologist and In-charge of the Urology Department in 1985 and was Head of Urology Department until 2002. During this period he introduced endourological surgery, including ureteroscopy and percutaneous renal techniques, started paediatric urology as a speciality with re-constructive urology as a focus, and initiated and developed laparoscopic urological surgery.
Dr. Kazim is a member of a number of international organizations, including the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), Royal Society of Medicine, London, Endourological Society, Asian Surgical Association, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Glasgow. He has been actively involved in continuing medical education and has been the editor of the Emirates Medical Journal from 1984. He also initiated the Cyber Medical College in Urology.
